Men and women become infertile for tons of reasons and surprisingly, the reasons for infertility in men are also the same reasons why some women are infertile. Infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to produce or conceive within the span of a year of unprotected sex. Sounds unlikely? Not at all! Actually there are a great number of couples who do find it hard to have a baby, whether it is the woman or man's condition that's making this gift impossible, you'll never know until you get tested.
Infertility can cause a couple to become distant to each other. Having babies after all is one of the aims of marriage. But why is there male or female infertility anyway and are they different from each other?
As mentioned a while back, the causes of infertility to both men and women are congruent. Of course, the difference may lie on the fact that these causes result to different symptoms and manifestations.
A man is considered infertile or sterile if he cannot cause pregnancy to fertile woman that is also true with women; if a fertile man cannot impregnate a woman even during unprotected sex. Normally, one ejaculation will produce millions sperm cells that are potentially capable of fertilizing an egg. In an infertile man, he produces less or nothing at all. If he produces a few, these sperm cells are either unhealthy or too weak to run the race of life. On the other hand, an infertile woman cannot produce healthy egg cells at all or a condition like ovarian cancer is causing the infertility.
In some cases, unhealthy habits like smoking, drug addiction and substance abuse can cause infertility. These chemicals genetically affect the production of sperm and egg thus making it impossible to conceive. Other reasons for infertility too are diseases like STDs, Obesity, sever malnutrition, surgery and cancer of the reproductive organs.
